The Falcons, completing their inaugural season at 2-25-0, scored first in this one (Jason Scott Klauka), but then were inundated by first place Adrian’s overall prowess. The nationally ranked hosts are now 24-3-0 overall.

It was a LONG bus ride to Adrian, Michigan for this weekend series with Adrian (22-3-0) and it was a LONGER bus ride home. The Falcon's regular season ended at 2-23-0 after a pair of one-sided losses to the league champions. They will return to Adrian for the 1st rd. tournament games next weekend.

Marian 6 Concordia 5
Once again the improved Falcons were on the verge of an upset, leading 5-4 in the second period, but a pair of Marian tallies turned the tide and allowed the visitors to escape with an exciting 6-5 win.
The teams combined for an amazing seven goals during a wild second period. Adam and Eric Domaas, Alec Kautzman, Michael Turbitt, and Sam Aide each scored goals for CUW.

The host Sabres improved to 12-4-1 in the MCHA with a hard fought victory over the Falcons. Marian led 3-1 after the first period and 4-2 by the time period two was completed. CUW got goals from Adam Domaas and Alec Michael Kautzma, but fell to 2- 20 on the season.

MSOE 5 Concordia 4

CUW battled back from an early 2-0 deficit to take a 4-2 third period lead, but the high-powered Raiders scored three times in less than two minutes to prevent the upset. The veteran MSOE squad outshot the Falcons 13- 2 in the decisive third period

The Falcons led 2-0 in the first period and 3-2 in the third before Crookston scored twice for a comeback win. Jonathon Smith tallied the initial goal for Tony Hrkac's first-year skaters and Sam Aide had a pair of red lighters.

Lawrence 10 Concordia 5
On Saturday, Lawrence came from behind against the Falcon men’s hockey squad, overcoming a 3-2 deficit to win 10-5.
The Vikings took full advantage of the number of power plays that came their way this time around, finishing with a total of four power play goals in 10 opportunities.
To make matters worse, Lawrence continued to dominate the offensive shot totals, outshooting the Falcons 73-33. The loss dropped Concordia to 2-15-0 overall, and 2-10-0 in MCHA play.

Behind a two goal performance from Evan Ptachick, the Falcon men’s hockey team won its second game in program history on Friday, knocking off Lawrence 3-0 in Appleton.

Despite being outshot 52-27, Concordia took full advantage of the few golden opportunities that presented themselves, while also capitalizing on one of their four power plays
Defensively, the Falcons power play kill unit rose to the occasion, with Lawrence finishing 0-for-7 on the power play. Goaltender Alexander Koeppen went the distance, finishing with 52 saves including 20 in the first 20 minutes.

Once again Tony Hrkac’s CUW team battled, remaining competitive (down 5-2 after two periods) before Adrian pulled away. Falcon Justus Neumann had a terrific performance in the nets, turning away 70 Adrian shots.

‘Bigger, stronger, faster, older’ describes Adrian’s hockey team, made up primarily of experienced Canadian players. The Falcons, within 4-1 at the end of two periods, scrapped to the bitter end but were victimized by six 3rd period tallies.

The Pipers (6-3-2) made short work of CUW, building an 8-0 lead before the Falcons (1-12-0) were able to find the back of the net with five minutes remaining in the contest.

The Falcons surprised the hosts by taking a 2-0 first period lead, but it was all Hamline after that. Alec Kautzman and Jari Sanders got CUW off to a great start with goals at 13:44 and 17:36 respectively, but Hamline (5-3-2) regrouped with 5 second period tallies and won going away. Tony Hrkac’s skaters were outshot 49- 8 for the game as they dropped to 1-11 on the season.

Ryan Schank and Alec Michael Kautzman each scored a third period goal but the Falcons could not overcome a 4-0 deficit and eventually fell to Marian 5-2.

A three goal third period by the MSOE Raiders iced a 6-1 victory over the Falcons, who gave a quality account of themselves in front of 554 fans at the Kern Center Arena. The powerful Raiders were led by Blair Hanberg, who had two goals on the night. CUW (1-8) trailed only 3-1 heading into the final segment.

The Falcons were no match for MSOE last evening, falling behind 7-0 prior to Evan Schnak's third period goal. Michael Turbitt and Jonathon Smith also tallied in the final segment for CUW which fell to 1-7 in their inaugural season.

St. Olaf (4-2-1) skated to a 5-0 lead after two periods before the Falcons battled back. CUW got third period goals from Michael Turbitt and Evan Ptachick but fell to 1-5 on the season.

Northland's Mike Stevens scored with only two minutes remaining in the contest to give the visitors a 4-3 win. The final tally came just minutes after CUW (1-4) had tied the score on Sam Aide's second tally of the evening.

Concordia 3 Northland 2 First Win!
Concordia erased a 1-0 third period deficit Friday night by scoring three goals in a four-minute span of the final period and then held on for a 3-2 win over visiting Northland College. With the win, the Falcons improved to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association.
Northland scored at the 7:13 mark of the first period and it appeared that one score might hold up. CUW was finally able to get one past Northland's goalie (who had an amazing 46 saves) five minutes into the third to tie the game at 1-1 and the Falcons used that momentum to score two more times in a three minute span to secure their historic first win.

Four power play goals allowed undefeated Finlandia to skate past host CUW 5-2 Saturday afternoon. Jonathon Smith got the Falcons within one goal early in the second period but penalties put Tony Hrkac’s skaters on the defensive throughout.

Jason Scott Klauka got the Falcons on the board early and the initial period of home hockey for the first-year CUW squad went beautifully until the final minute. At that point a five minute major penalty gave visiting Finlandia a drawn out power play that resulted in a pair of tallies during 60 fatal seconds.
CUW battled back to tie the score at 3-3 midway thru the second period but a combination of Finlandia skills and constant penalties allowed for the margin to balloon in the game's late stages.
"Once again we skated hard and competed until their size and experience wore us out," offered head coach Tony Hrkac. "I expect that we will just keep learning and getting better."
A capacity crowd witnessed the hsitoric events with dozens turned away once the Ozaukee Ice Center reached maximum capacity.

UW- Stout 10 Concordia 1
Justin Maciuk will forever be the answer to the trivia question, “Who scored the first goal in Concordia hockey history?” The freshman connected five minutes into the second period to cut CUW’s deficit to 4-1 against the Nation’s 12th ranked team as Tony Hrkac’s skaters opened on the road.
Unfortunately that was the only score for the Falcons as goalie Dustin Le Claire faced a 56 shot onslaught by Stout’s veteran juggernaut which is now 3-0 on the season.

PREVIEW
Head Coach Tony Hrkac welcomed a host of October candidates as the Falcons began on-ice preparations for their inaugural season at the Division III level. The young Falcon skaters will compete in the MCHA conference which features a number of national powerhouses.
The puck drops for the Falcon's road opener at 7:00 PM on October 30 at UW-Stout. CUW will play their home games at the Ozaukee Ice Center in Mequon, WI. Season ticket packages are still available thru the Concordia athletic office.
