Solveson Qualifies for NCAA Outdoor Nationals
The CUW Falcons competed at the Eagle Track and Field Invitational this past Saturday at Benedictine University. Brock Solveson provided the CUW highlight of the meet as he automatically qualified for the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships in the Javelin. Nationals will be hosted in Oshkosh on May 23rd – 25th.
Solveson not only qualified, but he threw the second best distance in the country this year for DIII. Brock’s launch of 63.00 meters bested the qualifying distance of 62.50 meters by one half meter.
Three Falcons also represented Concordia in a huge way, as a portion of the NAC Outdoor Conference Championships took place at this meet. The individuals running in the 10,000 meters had their points tallied towards the overall total for the May 3rd Outdoor NAC Championships.
Because the 10,000 is such a grueling race, the conference voted to allow these individuals the opportunity to competein this race earlier and also have enough time to recoup and participate in other races two weeks from now.
Ashley Vana represented the women with an overall third place finish while Eric Locke and Steve Paavola represented the men with 6th and 8th place finishes respectfully.
“With Universities representing 18 teams from both genders, it was easy to see at least forty individuals competingin each event. With that being said, CUW did an outstanding job competing against some of the better talent in the Midwest,” said Coach Adam Walker.
Other Notable CUW Finishes:
Mark Hering 7th Javelin; 7th 800 Meter Run; & 8th Pole Vault
Chris Boettcher 6th 1500 Meter Run;
Lucas Pfaffenroth 16th 1500 Meter Run;
